Key Points

  • Substantial color alterations were observed in flowers due to mutation, enhancing our understanding of anthocyanin synthesis.
  • Anthocyanin content was substantially affected by chemical mutagenesis, indicating its role in flower coloration.
  • This analysis combines metabolomic and transcriptomic profiling to explore flower color variations systematically.
  • These findings may inform future breeding strategies for improving flower varieties, focusing on anthocyanin regulation.

Abstract

This study showed substantial alterations in color and anthocyanin synthesis in chemically mutagenized I. hybrida 'Solarscape' flowers, and these findings could provide some insight into the relationship between Impatiens and other flowers could offer a theoretical foundation for the breeding improvement of Impatiens and other flowers.
