Analysis details precious metal distribution and sulfides in the Sopcha ore bed, suggesting its significance as a mineral resource.
Data on contents and distribution of precious metals (Pt, Pd, Rh, Ru, Au, Ag) in the rocks from the “ore bed of Sopcha” of the Monchegorsk pluton are given for the first time. The results obtained suggest that the “ore bed of Sopcha” can be considered as an analogue of the known “reefs” of the Precambrian layered massifs (Bushveld, Stillwater and other complexes). Relatively high concentrations of PGE with an insignificant quantity of sulfides allows it to be assigned to a group of essentially platinum metal ore occurrences.
