Mineralogical examination reveals platinum and palladium compounds in sulfide-bearing gabbroids, indicating similarities to known deposits.
Mineralogical examination of sulfide-bearing gabbroids with increased contents of Pt and Pd from the Nomgon Massif has shown that the Pt mineral paragenesis is close to low-sulfide Pt deposits of the Stillwater type. The only mineral that accumulates Pt is Rh-bearing sperrylite. Palladium forms a wide range of compounds with As, Sb, Bi, and Te, whose composition differs in various sulfide-bearing zones. In assortment and composition of Pt minerals, the Nomgon Massif is the most similar to the Lukkulaisvaar Massif in Northern Karelia.
