Archival analysis reveals historical rivalry and development efforts for district center in Babušnica and Ljuberađa.
A rivalry has long existed between two Lužnica villages, Babušnica and Ljuberađa, over the issue which one would be the center of the district. In close relation to it, efforts existed to declare these villages as towns. This rivalry has not been investigated in detail, so the opinions expressed on this topic have usually been insufficiently substantiated. Research into the previously unknown archive of the prominent pre-war resident of Babušnica, Lazar Stanković, has yielded significant new findings that have shed light on the efforts of Ljuberađa and Babušnica to be the center of the district and on the dates of their proclamation as towns. In addition to the aforementioned archive, literature on Lužnica was also used in the preparation of the manuscript.
