This protocol demonstrates effective dibromination in anisole analogues, indicating potential for gram-scale synthesis.
A simple, efficient and environmentally friendly methodology for the dibromination of anisole analogues using Fe(NO3)3•9H2O/FeBr3 at room temperature was developed. In which, most of anisole analogues with electron-donating group and weak electron-withdrawing group could offered the corresponding product in good to excellent yield, while with strong electron-withdrawing group offered a high yield of monbromination product. This protocol was also suitable to the bromination of 2-or 4-substitued substrates. More importantly, this protocol was also applicable for gram-scale synthesis.
