Panorama: Women's health and well-being are neglected by society and health institutions. The insertion of women into the labor market and the advancement of sexual rights have intensified the use of hormonal contraceptives, but in Brazil, studies investigating the relationship between the use of contraceptive methods and pelvic floor dysfunctions in women treated by the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS) are still scarce. Aims: To understand the impacts of these methods on the pelvic floor muscles, in order to contribute to more effective and individualized interventions. Method: A field study, observational, cross-sectional, descriptive and exploratory, using the FSFI and PISQ-12, of 22 women treated at a University Clinic. Results: Users of hormonal contraceptives presented lower scores for desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm, and satisfaction, as well as a higher prevalence of pain and decreased muscle strength. Conclusion: The use of hormonal contraceptives can negatively impact female sexual function, highlighting the need for further research.
