Objective. To develop the method for harmonic analysis of pelvic electrical signals for non-invasive quantitative and qualitative assessment of regional autonomic nervous system (ANS) activity. Material and methods. The study enrolled healthy men and patients with prostatitis and vegetative disorders. Harmonic analysis of electrical signals in near-prostate pelvic region was performed. Results. The method for non-invasive assessment of ANS activity in near-prostate pelvic region of men was developed. It is based on high-resolution recording of ohmic and voltaic signals with their off-line harmonic analysis. This method was effective for detection of neurogenic cardiac arrhythmias. Quantitative and qualitative analysis of electrical activity in pelvic region includes seven key parameters with common feature of their increase during orthoprobe. The last one characterizes functional enhancement of sympathetic system and shift of sympathetic-parasympathetic balance in favor of this system. To display these parameters clearly, a 7-radii radar chart is advanced, whose area and appearance can distinguish normal activity of ANS from its pathological variants including arterial hypertension. Conclusion. A novel non-invasive method for assessment of ANS activity based on harmonic analysis of electrical signals in near-prostate pelvic region of men enhances methodical arsenal for examination of ANS in fundamental physiology and applied medicine.
