Reports interaction effects of gabbro-norite melt on plagioperidotites, suggesting implications for ore mineralization.
A gabbro-norite dike cross-cutting the plagioperidotite sill in the central part of the Ioko-Dovyren Massif has been studied. Composition of the gabbro-norites and plagioperidotites differ essentially from similar rocks of the massif. Plagioperidotites and gabbro-norites of the lower contact differ from the rocks of the upper one. These peculiarities are attributed to active interaction between gabbro-norite melt and semi-solidified plagioperidotites. Probable assimilation of ultramafic material, mixing of melt and intercumulus liquid, and infiltration of fluids are considered. A possibility of contribution from contact interaction to the formation of sulfide nickel-copper ore mineralization is discussed.
