Letter report assesses archaeological impact of repairing six culverts, highlighting potential effects on cultural resources.
This document is a Section 106 letter report for the Repair Six Culverts Project. The purpose of the report is to provide the background research to help the government assess any potential impacts associated with ground disturbance associated with the project. The document provides specifics about each of the six culverts to be repaired including a description of each culvert and the proposed work to be accomplished. This information is used to delineate the project Area of Direct Impact (ADI) which is comprised of six discontiguous areas. A study area in regard to cultural resources, and more specifically archaeological resources is established and is defined as a 100 meter buffer around each ADI. The ADI intersected three archaeological sites, CA-SBA-667, -1126, and -2917, and these resources in conjunction with the ADI comprise the area of potential effect (APE) for the project. The report summarizes the three archaeological sites and concludes the effort for the background research for this project.
