This framework defines a new discipline for defending systems shaped by human pressure and operational drift, suggesting a shift in security models.
The Care-Based Security Codex defines a new discipline for defending sociotechnical systems shaped by human pressure, operational drift, and trust-chain complexity. Traditional security models assume stable processes, consistent behavior, and clean architectural boundaries. Care-Based Security begins from the opposite premise: that real environments—especially SMBs—are shaped by exhaustion, shortcuts, undocumented workflows, and emotional load. This Codex formalizes the epistemology, triads, operational principles, myth-tech layer, and restoration cycle that underpin Care-Based Security. It introduces the Care-Based Security Triad (Pressure → Drift → Stewardship), the Doppelgänger Threat Model, and the sociotechnical foundations required to defend systems as they actually behave, not as documentation claims they should. This work establishes the canonical framework for the discipline and serves as the theoretical foundation for Soft Armor Labs' consulting methodology.
