Analysis uncovers pollen and parasite presence in Colonial Williamsburg, suggesting historical activity.
Sediment samples designated for pollen and parasite analysis were collected from the Magazine Courtyard, Custis Square, and the Bray Site at Colonial Williamsburg. Samples from the Magazine Courtyard are affiliated with burials. Samples from Custis Square represent planting beds, a boundary ditch, and a control from Buried A horizon deposits. Samples from the Bray School were collected from privy deposits, a garden planting, and a garden furrow. Pollen analysis was conducted on all samples, while parasite analysis was requested specifically for samples recovered from burials and privies.
