Multiparametric CMR reveals alternative diagnoses in ~42% of MINOCA patients.
Why the study?
MINOCA is a heterogeneous condition with diverse underlying mechanisms, and the diagnostic and prognostic yield of multiparametric CMR and its impact on clinical reclassification needed evaluation.
Does multiparametric CMR improve diagnostic yield and clinical reclassification in patients with suspected MINOCA?
Cohort (n=62)
No
Does multiparametric CMR improve diagnostic yield and clinical reclassification in patients with suspected MINOCA?
Multiparametric CMR is highly effective in the diagnostic workup of suspected MINOCA, identifying alternative diagnoses such as Takotsubo syndrome or myocarditis in over 40% of carefully selected patients.

May aid MINOCA reclassification; leaves open prospective outcome validation.
Tognola et al. (2026) conducted a cohort in Myocardial infarction with nonobstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA) (n=62). Multiparametric cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) was evaluated on Definitive diagnosis. Multiparametric CMR provided a definitive diagnosis in 100% of patients with suspected MINOCA, confirming MINOCA in 48.4% and identifying alternative diagnoses in 41.9%.
