This review discusses the clinical significance of NT-proBNP for determining cardiovascular risk in patients with prediabetes.

Abstract

This review analyzes scientific researches of clinical significance of the N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide hormone (NT-proBNP) indicator for determining the risk of cardiovascular events in persons with prediabetes. The term «prediabetes» characterizes an intermediate state of metabolism dysregulation between the proper glucose homeostasis and diabetes. It points at the high risk of subsequent developing type 2 diabetes.
