Increasing ACS admissions in women <65 may reflect shifting risks; leaves open whether targeted prevention is warranted pending confirmatory studies.
What are the trends in annual incidence of hospitalized acute coronary syndrome in France from 2004 to 2014, particularly among women?
Hospitalizations for acute coronary syndrome, particularly STEMI and NSTEMI, significantly increased among middle-aged French women (<65 years) between 2004 and 2014, highlighting a critical need for targeted primary prevention.
Gabet et al. (2017) studied this question. From 2004 to 2014, age-standardized admissions for ACS increased by 6.3% in women under 65, driven by STEMI (+21.7%) and NSTEMI (+53.7%).
