This analysis reveals unsteady earthquake periodicity in the Baikal Rift Zone, suggesting complex spatial influences.
The Bartlett periodogram shows no steady periodicity in the range from 0.9 to 80 days among the representative earthquakes of the Baikal Rill Zone from 1968 to 1984. Unsteady periods, T, were determined for sequences of shocks (K = 9–10) in 1975 (T = 1.07 days) and 1982 (T = 1.43 days). It is shown that these periods depend on spatial localization of the sequences. The areas that best exhibit the periodicity were outlined.
