Abstract

Learning outcomes After completion of the case, students will be able to compare the pros and cons of internal and external recruitment; evaluate the various challenges encountered in succession planning; and assess the importance of organizational culture in hiring decisions. Case overview/synopsis SLA Finserv Pvt Ltd was a prominent financial intermediary firm headquartered in Jaipur, the capital city of Indian state of Rajasthan. As Ashish Modani, the founder of SLA Finserv, became increasingly engaged in the firm’s diversification, he sought a competent COO candidate who could ensure operational continuity in his absence, as well as uphold firm’s values. The case highlights the importance of organizational culture and values in making hiring decisions and succession planning.
