Ultrasound measures sound velocity stability in BaTiO3 cubic phase under high magnetic fields, suggesting no structural changes.
We report the magnetic-field dependence of the ultrasonic properties of BaTiO3 (BTO) in pulsed magnetic fields up to 100 T, at temperatures just above the cubic–tetragonal transition temperature TC. The longitudinal sound velocity is found to remain unchanged within the experimental uncertainty of 0.3%, indicating that no field-induced structural phase transition occurs up to 100 T. We discuss this robust acoustic response in relation to the possible magnetic-field-induced shift of TC reported by Chiu et al. [J. Appl. Phys. 137, 155903 (2025)].
