Key Points

  • The aim is to evaluate subsurface cavities beneath pavements using advanced analysis methods.
  • Conducted three-dimensional finite element method (FEM) analysis of pavements
  • Examined the influence of subsurface cavities on pavement structure
  • Investigated fatigue analysis as a diagnostic tool for identified cavities
  • Demonstrated that the scale and location of cavities significantly affect pavement integrity
  • Indicated that fatigue analysis allows for rational prioritization of response strategies
  • Highlighted the potential for quantitative assessment of subsurface cavity impacts
