This review explores tailored prosthodontic strategies in systemically ill patients, indicating the need for careful treatment planning.
Prosthodontic rehabilitation in medically compromised patients presents unique clinical challenges requiring an integrated understanding of systemic health conditions and dental care. This review explores prosthodontic considerations across a spectrum of systemic diseases including metabolic, bone, neurological, cardiovascular, immunological, and hematological disorders. Tailored management strategies for conditions such as diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, Parkinsonism, Alzheimer’s disease, hypertension, HIV/AIDS, and bleeding disorders are emphasized. The review also discusses prosthodontic modifications, implant contraindications, and oral manifestations in relation to these systemic conditions. Adapting treatment protocols to accommodate medical histories ensures safe, effective, and patient-centered prosthodontics care.
