The Nile Basin is a critical water resource for Central Africa, particularly for countries like the Central African Republic (CAR). Water scarcity and its associated conflicts have been significant issues in this region. The analysis employs a qualitative approach, examining existing literature on water resource management in the region, stakeholder interviews, and an assessment of current policies. Case studies from CAR and neighboring countries provide a comparative framework. Current governance mechanisms show limited success in addressing conflicts over Nile Basin resources. Key challenges include inadequate coordination among riparian states and insufficient investment in infrastructure projects. While there are existing policy frameworks, their implementation is hindered by political instability and resource mismanagement. A more coordinated approach involving all stakeholders is recommended to enhance water security and reduce conflict potential. Stakeholders should prioritise harmonizing policies across the Nile Basin states, investing in infrastructure for equitable distribution of resources, and enhancing community engagement mechanisms.
