Malawi has implemented school-based nutrition programmes to address undernutrition among children in schools, particularly targeting girls and rural areas. A mixed-methods approach combining quantitative data from school records with qualitative interviews to analyse programme implementation and impact. Findings indicate a significant improvement in girls' daily dietary intake (10% increase) compared to boys, highlighting gender disparities. The evaluation suggests that while overall nutritional status improved, the equity gap persists between genders. Future nutrition programmes should prioritise targeted interventions for undernourished girls and ensure equitable resource distribution across schools.
