Professor Jaap Keijer is an experimental biomolecular health physiologist. His research on metabolism and mitochondria focuses on in vivo metabolic processes. He aims to mechanistically better understand how disturbances in the wiring of metabolism and mitochondria leads to disease in mammals. He intends that his research insights contribute to the prevention and treatment of chronic metabolic and age-related dysfunction and disease of humans. Prof Jaap Keijer is also a passionate teacher, dedicated to solid training of students in experimental research and biomolecular health physiology.
