This review analyzes phosphate production efficiency in Morocco, suggesting optimized practices for sustainability.
Morocco is a significant producer of phosphate, a critical mineral for agricultural fertilizers and industrial applications. A comprehensive review of existing literature on Moroccan phosphate production processes alongside case studies from key producers was conducted. Statistical analyses were performed using regression models to evaluate process efficiencies. The average improvement rate for energy consumption per ton of phosphate produced across the analysed facilities was found to be approximately 10%, with significant variability in implementation strategies among different sites. Effective resource integration through optimised chemical engineering processes can significantly reduce production costs and environmental impact, highlighting the need for standardised best practices. Standardised guidelines should be developed based on empirical findings from this analysis to promote sustainable phosphate production in Morocco.
