This study examined the effectiveness of STEM education in developing competence in artificial intelligence utilization for workforce readiness among teachers in senior secondary schools in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. The study was guided by three objectives and three research questions. The study adopted the descriptive survey research design with a population of 1,240 teachers and trainee teachers in public senior secondary schools in bio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. The sample of the study was 240 teachers selected using the purposive sampling technique. The instrument for data collection was a questionnaire titled ‘Effectiveness of STEM Education in Developing Competence in Artificial Intelligence Utilization for Workforce Readiness among Teachers Questionnaire’. The instrument was validated by three experts while the reliability of the instrument was established using Cronbach Alpha method with a composite reliability index of 0.92. The mean and standard deviation were used to analysed the data collected. The finding of the study revealed that STEM education programmes significantly enhance teachers' understanding of AI concepts through interdisciplinary learning. It was recommended among others that government and educational authorities in Rivers State prioritize the development of comprehensive training programs focused on AI and its integration into STEM education. These programs should be designed to improve teachers' understanding of AI concepts and equip them with the necessary skills to incorporate AI tools and methodologies into their teaching practices effectively.
