The CHET brief required a programme of linear trial trenching to sample the site ahead of development. This was be achieved by excavating 60.00m of trenching, comprising two 20.00m x 1.80m trenches and two 10.00m x 1.80m trenches. The site had a high potential for features and finds relating to the medieval period, and a low to moderate potential for finds and features relating to the post-medieval period. The potential for features and finds from all other periods was low. Despite the above potential, the no archaeological features were encountered. The 1893 OS Map (Fig. 6) shows the site as a roadside plot in the agricultural hinterland to the East of the main settlement. It's likely that this was the case throughout the post medieval period and possible prior, though this cannot be ascertained with absolute certainty.
