Application of small and shallow external suture in facial aesthetic suturing

To improve the external suture method in order to enhance the quality of wound healing and reduce scar formation. From December 2023 to Febuary 2025, 40 surgical patients with facial scar excision who met the inclusion criteria were selected from the Dongshang Medical Aesthetics Outpatient Department. There were 18 males and 22 females, aged 18–45 years. The surgical site was the face. The external suture method for each patient was equally divided into the traditional external suture method and the small and shallow external suture method using a random sequence method. The epidermal fusion rate of the wounds was observed at the time of suture removal. On the day of suture removal, the epidermal fusion rate for the small and shallow external suture method was 90.0% (18/20), which was significantly higher than the 45.0% (9/20) for the traditional external suture method (p<0.05). The small and shallow external suture method can significantly improve the quality of wound healing and may reduce the prominence of subsequent scars.
