New York State Assemblyman Phil Steck has been working to make sure opioid settlement funds are used for their intended purposes in his state. Most recently, the Democrat filed a bill that would amend the state finance law to keep hands out of the till that don't belong there, this time pertaining to the interest on the opioid settlement funds. There is substantial interest — 35 million — because much of the money hasn't been spent yet.
