Updates document archaeological activities and excavations in the Pacific Northwest during 2002, highlighting significant findings and plans.
These are the 2002 Pacific Northwest Archaeological Society (PNWAS) News Bulletins with activities of the society for that year. In 2002 we had a busy year with talks on the archaeology of the Kuril Islands, Russia, work to create 3-D images of Haida Villages, the 10,700 year old wet site on Haida Gwaai, and thousands of fish trap stacks on the Hoquiam River, WA. The updates on excavating the Mud Bay/Qwu?gwes archaeological wet site in Olympia with South Puget Sound Community College and the Squaxin Island Tribe included more basketry, nets, knives and blanket pins. We also began planning, with PNWAS as critical volunteers, an International Wet Sites Conference at South Puget Sound Community College for April of 2003.
