Experimental analysis showcases improved cost and efficiency in bevel gear machining, indicating practical applications in manufacturing.
Using face milling technology instead of face hobbing technology to process extended epicycloidal bevel gear (cycloidal bevel gear for short) can effectively reduce the cost of machine tools and cutting tools. In this paper, a rough forming machining method of cycloidal bevel gear based on face milling technology is proposed. The rough machining and fine machining of cycloidal bevel gear wheel are separated, and the face milling technology is adopted in the rough machining stage, relying on the price advantages of its cutting tools and machine tools to realize the low-cost machining of cycloidal bevel gear. Firstly, the different characteristics of face milling technology and face hobbing technology are analyzed. Based on the differential treatment, a unified cutter head model and machining model are established, and the calculation method of the original deviation between the circular arc tooth surface and the extended epicycloid tooth surface is established. the optimization of machining parameters is carried out to minimize the deviation between the rough cutting tooth surface and the finish cutting tooth surface. An example is introduced to carry out the optimization analysis and calculation of tooth surface deviation. On this Basis, the tooth cutting test is completed, which proves the feasibility of the proposed method and provides a reference for the optimal production of cycloidal bevel gears.
