Examines how copper and indium ratios affect optical properties of quantum dots, suggesting implications for quantum dot light-emitting devices.
In this study, the impact of Cu:In proportions was thoroughly investigated on the structural and optical properties of CuInS 2 (CIS) quantum dots (QDs) developed through an affordable solvothermal process. Among the various Cu/In compositions, the 1:2 proportion of Cu and In showed an enhanced quantum yield (QY) of 46%. In addition, the effect of excitation wavelength on the photoluminescence properties of CIS QDs was investigated and reported. To further enhance the QY of CIS QDs for QLED applications, CIS/ZnS core/shell QDs were prepared using the optimized Cu/In proportion (1:2) of CIS, and a QY of 86% has been achieved.
