The article examines the main directions of the systemic actualization of the classical theory of legal relations. It highlights the features of the new stage of the cognitive situation in this area of jurisprudence, linked to modern methodologies for understanding social relations and technological challenges. The purpose of the article is to identify the vectors of rethinking previous approaches to legal relations, including the theory of legal regulation by S. S. Alekseev. The new stage in the development of the doctrine of legal relations is associated with the works on innovative legal regulation by P. P. Serkov. The article reveals the main elements of his theory of the legal relationship mechanism as an актуальной методологии права. The vectors of rethinking the research subjects of legal regulation are shown: repositioning the problematics of legal relations; a new correlation between legal relations and social relations; a change in the main function of legal relations; additional interconnections between the general and the specific in legal relations; and the role of technological factors in updating the methodology of analyzing legal relations. The article concludes that the concept of legal relations is transforming into a legal technology that involves multiple normative and structural interactions between subjects and objects of legal regulation. The article explores the structure, subject, and object composition of the legal relations mechanism. It also concludes that the legal relations mechanism is an innovative regulator of the rule of law in the current regulatory and law enforcement environment and is a central element of modern legal regulation theory.
