Case report highlights aggressive multimodal intervention for sebaceous gland carcinoma in eyelids, indicating importance of early diagnosis and comprehensive care.
Sebaceous gland carcinoma (SGC) or sebaceous cell carcinoma is an overall rare but lethal malignancy most commonly affecting the eyelids. The clinical suspicion should be kept high while dealing with ulcerative or nodular lesions near the eyelid.Early diagnosis and surgery with adequate margins can achieve the best outcome. In locally advanced disease, the multimodality treatment including radical surgery with postoperative radiotherapy remains the best possible option. The incidence of loco-regional relapse and distant metastasis still remains high. The recent data of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) is advanced disease is encouraging. Here, we report a rare case of this aggressive malignancy and highlight the importance of multidisciplinary care to achieve excellent oncological outcomes.
