Develops a decentralized control strategy that outperforms traditional methods in microgrid management, indicating improved reliability.
The effective control of microgrids is essential for ensuring the stable and reliable operation of modern distribution systems, particularly with the increasing integration of renewable energy sources. The networked nature of these systems introduces new control challenges, especially in inverter-based microgrids. This paper presents a novel decentralized control strategy based on the Active Disturbance Rejection Control (ADRC) framework, which offers reduced dependence on the system model compared to conventional methods such as droop control and synchronization capability embedded. Furthermore, the theoretical equivalence between the proposed ADRC-based strategy and robust Generalized Proportional-Integral (GPI) control is developed, highlighting key differences in design methodology, implementation, and performance. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is validated through simulations conducted in MATLAB/Simulink - Simscape Electrical.
