Sustainable agriculture practices are crucial for improving food security and environmental sustainability in Tanzania's smallholder farming communities. The research employed participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and focus group discussions with farmers in four districts across Tanzania. Data collection was conducted over three months from October to December . Farmers expressed varying levels of interest in adopting sustainable practices, with a notable proportion (45%) indicating willingness to use integrated pest management strategies. The most common challenges cited were lack of resources and insufficient technical support. Extension services play a significant role in enhancing the adoption of sustainable agriculture among smallholder farmers, though barriers remain in terms of resource availability and supportive policies. Enhanced collaboration between extension agencies and community organizations can help address these challenges and improve farmer engagement with sustainable practices.
