Comprehensive echocardiographic examination is a cornerstone of proper qualification for mitral transcatheter edge-to-edge repair, though observational registry data often lacks these parameters.
The authors acknowledge the importance of echocardiography in patient selection for mitral TEER but note that their observational study lacked access to this data due to electronic health record limitations in Poland.
We would like to thank the authors for pointing out that echocardiography is extremely important in patient selection for mitral transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) procedures, since superior results can be expected in a limited number of subjects that meet specific criteria, derived from clinical studies [1].We strongly believe that a comprehensive echocardiographic examination is a cornerstone of proper qualification for mitral TEER.We are aware that, due to an observational nature of our study, it has significant limitations [2].Mitral TEER procedures are currently being performed in many centers across Poland.Data required to prepare this manuscript were obtained from electronic health records which hold information regarding comorbidities and hospitalizations.Unfortunately, information from baseline and follow-up echocardiographic examinations is not shared in a central network, therefore we did not have access to this data while preparing our manuscript. We sincerely hope that due to ongoing digitalization processes we will have access in the future to more comprehensive pre-and post-procedural data.

Michał Kozłowski (2026) conducted a letter in Mitral regurgitation (scheduled for TEER). Mitral transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) was evaluated. Comprehensive echocardiographic examination is a cornerstone of proper qualification for mitral transcatheter edge-to-edge repair, though observational registry data often lacks these parameters.
