ABSTRACT The response spectrum method, specified in Notification No. 2009 of the Ministry of Construction, is not included among the countermeasures introduced in 2016 to address long‐period and long‐duration ground motions (LPGMs) associated with the Nankai Trough. In this study, the influence of various structural parameters of seismically isolated buildings and velocity‐dependent dampers on the distribution of story shear force coefficients is analyzed. The applicability of a previously proposed formula to LPGMs is then verified, and a variation correction coefficient, νʹ, is introduced.
