Export Introduction: Rapid urbanization and industrialization have forced people to work under psychological pressure that affects their personal mental performance. Therefore, the memory and other cognitive abilities of the person are adversely affected. A person’s mental health plays an important role in a person’s well-being. Improving mental health and managing various mental psychological problems is necessary for the successful survival of humans in the competitive world. Practicing yoga has also shown various health benefits, including improving memory and thus preventing memory impairment and related disorders. Bahya and Aabhyantara Trataka Karma were selected as a trial intervention for enhancing memory in healthy individuals. Methods: The effect of Bahya and Aabhyantara Trataka Karma on Smriti was assessed. Sixty healthy volunteers were enrolled and allocated into two groups. Volunteers were intervened with Bahya Trataka in Group (A). Volunteers intervened Aabhyantara Trataka with in Group (B). The time duration was 8 weeks, including with 4 intermittent monitoring at the interval of 2 weeks for this research work. Results: All volunteers have completed the trial duration. Trataka Karma has shown a significant correction in subjective parameters such as the PGI Memory Scale. Abhyanatara Trataka provides more memory benefits as compared to Bahya Trataka. Conclusion: Bahya and Aabhyantara Trataka both were found effective in memory enhancement. The results of this study establish that Trataka can be used as a technique to enhance memory in healthy individuals.
