Demonstrates a novel boost converter design for high-gain applications, suggesting improved efficiency and performance.
This paper presents a DC–DC boost converter based on a three-state switching cell (SSC) and a double half-bridge resonant inverter. The proposed converter consists of two active switches, two diodes, and a coupled inductor. It is suitable for high-gain applications such as renewable energy systems and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). Compared with conventional step-up DC–DC converters, the proposed topology offers significant advantages, including low conduction losses, reduced commutation losses, and low input and output current ripple. For high-voltage applications, the converter operates in overlapping mode, corresponding to a duty cycle greater than 0.5, ensuring continuous conduction operation. The output voltage can be increased by adjusting the transformer turns ratio without increasing the voltage stress across the switches. Furthermore, the integrated double half-bridge resonant inverter enhances efficient power delivery. In addition to the mathematical analysis, a 1 kW experimental prototype has been developed to validate the theoretical performance of the proposed converter
