Describes a new method that produces phenanthrene derivatives from biaryl fluorosulfonates and alkynes, indicating efficient synthesis.
A palladium‐catalyzed C─H annulation of 2‐biaryl fluorosulfonates with internal alkynes has been developed. This strategy provides access to a variety of phenanthrene derivatives in 57%–93% yields. Notably, it enables a convenient two‐step, one‐pot synthesis of phenanthrene derivatives directly from 2‐arylphenols.
