Evaluates temperature reduction and efficiency improvement in solar panels using various mesh designs and a heat sink.
The internal panel temperature and its efficiency of a traditional solar PV panel is heavily affected by several environmental factors such as ambient temperature, wind flow and its direction, structural formation and the material composition. To avoid these problems in this manuscript, a newly developed concentrated solar photovoltaic (CPV) based on Si material has been developed in ANSYS workbench. Inside the chamber, by taking three different meshing techniques such as rectangular, tetrahedron and hex dominant, a comparative study has been formed to get the best temperature profiles of the concentrated PV panel. The overall analysis has been formulated through finite element method (FEM). By doing so, it has been noticed that the maximum temperature is occurred for tetrahedron mesh technique which is around 60.159°C. Next, to reduce the increasing temperature, a suitable aluminum material based heat sink has been added with the CPV panel to improve the quality of efficiency and to reduce its increasing temperature so that the panel can be operated properly. After, including the heat sink, it has been observed that the maximum temperature has been reduced almost 5.547°C for rectangular mesh based PV model which is best among the three and the corresponding efficiency has also increased upto 0.37 % for this rectangular PV panel. This cooling arrangement will help to enhance the life span of the solar panel in the energy harvesting sector by increasing its thermo‐mechanical stability.
