Comparative modeling shows unique impacts of radiotherapy and chemotherapy on tumor control, suggesting effective treatment strategies.
Radiotherapy and chemotherapy act through distinct mechanisms, but both can be representedmathematically as terms that oppose tumor growth. In this work, a comparative modelling framework isproposed in which the same baseline tumor dynamics is combined separately with a radiotherapy termand a chemotherapy term. The resulting equations are analysed in order to compare effective growthreduction, cumulative treatment burden, and treatment-dependent equilibria. The study provides asimple mathematical basis for comparing the qualitative impact of local irradiation and systemic drugaction on tumor control.
