Key Points

  • The aim is to identify the best raw material for lining fabrics by evaluating their performance characteristics.
  • Examined technical properties of various lining fabrics including Viscose, Cupro, Acetate, Rayon, PES, and PES/Lycra.
  • Evaluated seam strength, sewability, surface resistivity, crease recovery angle, friction, and color fastness to perspiration.
  • Determined the strengths and weaknesses of different lining materials based on their technical properties.
  • Identified Viscose and Cupro as superior in terms of seam strength and color fastness.

Abstract

Lining fabrics, one of the functional parts of the garment, are the first surfaces to come into contact with the human body. The most important features expected from linings during use are the performance of the seams, non-wrinkling, electrical resistance, friction and color fastness to perspiration. In this study, the seam strength, sewability, surface resistivity, crease recovery angle, friction and color fastness to perspiration properties of different lining fabrics were examined. For this purpose, lining fabrics produced from Viscose, Cupro, Acetate, Rayon, PES and PES/Lycra (97/3%) fibers were used. In this study, it is aimed to determine the best raw material of linings by examining the technical properties of the linings commonly used in the market and to present the advantages and disadvantages of different raw materials used for linings.
