Experimental study explores the effects of lime sludge on concrete strength in construction materials, suggesting environmental benefits.
The disposal of lime sludge, a byproduct of water treatment plants and paper manufacturing industries, presents significant environmental challenges. This study explores the feasibility utilizing lime sludge as a partial replacement for cement in concrete mixes design M30 grade a sustainable alternative construction material. An experimental works will be done the where varying proportions of lime sludge (5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% by weight of cement). the were incorporated into concrete mixes. Standard tests were carried out to evaluate the a and mechanical properties, including compressive strength, split tensile strength, and flexural the strength, at 7, 14, and 28 days. The study also aimed to assess the workability, setting time, and durability aspects associated with the modified concrete mixes. Standard laboratory will be followed for sample preparation, curing, and testing, adhering to relevant IS codes. The use of lime sludge in concrete was hypothesized to contribute to cement hydration and microstructural improvement due to its pozzolanic characteristics. The study explores the viability of integrating lime sludge into concrete production from both a performance and environmental perspective, laying the groundwork for further optimization and large-scale implementation.
