Phytochemical screening evaluates active chemical constituents in multipurpose tree species, suggesting economic potential.
Twenty two multipurpose tree species (MPTs) were screened phytochemically for the evaluation of their economically important active chemical constituents, viz., alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, glycosides and steroids. Alkaloids, saponins and flavonoids were found to be present in 50% and 45% of the total plants screened respectively.
