Key result
Genetically predicted immune cell traits show no significant association with venous thromboembolism risk.
Why the study?
Is there a causal link between immune cell traits and venous thromboembolism?
Observational
Is there a causal link between immune cell traits and venous thromboembolism?
Mendelian randomization analysis found no statistically significant causal associations between immune cell traits and VTE after FDR correction, though exploratory findings suggest potential links requiring further study.
From a strict statistical perspective, no significant associations were identified after FDR correction. However, our analysis using MR method suggests a potential link between VTE and immune cell traits, suggesting the complex interplay between the immune system and thrombotic events. While this study is exploratory and needs validation, the findings of this study are hypothesis-generating with resect to the mechanisms underlying VTE and encourage further investigation into the role of immune activity in VTE pathology.

Qi et al. (2025) conducted an observational in Venous thromboembolism. Immune cell traits was evaluated on Venous thromboembolism. Mendelian randomization analysis identified no statistically significant associations between immune cell traits and venous thromboembolism after false discovery rate correction.
