The article is devoted to the issues associated problems with proceedings in criminal cases on battery (Art. 116.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) arising in the law enforcement activities due to reference of this case category to the jurisdiction of district courts. The author concludes that the legislator introducing this novelty failed to foresee any regulation of court activities in this case, which resulted in certain practical difficulties.
