Analysis of tourist infrastructure development highlights historical context and architectural identity in Solvychegodsk.
The formation of tourist infrastructure in the small towns of the north of Russia is one of the important areas of domestic tourism. However, when designing tourism facilities, especially in historical cities, a careful approach is needed to introduce the new into the existing context. The object of the article's research is the tourist infrastructure in the context of the development of a historical city using the example of Solvychegodsk. An analysis of Solvychegodsk's tourist resources and updated data on tourism facilities revealed that the previously large shopping and craft center is now isolated from tourist flows and lacks high-quality service, but has great potential for further development. An architectural and urban planning analysis of Solvychegodsk was carried out, as a result of which it was revealed that the unique historical and architectural monuments of federal and regional importance that the city possesses, as well as residential buildings of the late XVIII - early XIX centuries, represent an integral architectural environment. The features of the historical environment of Solvychegodsk are revealed in terms of urban planning and architectural characteristics of buildings that form an urban identity. The features of the architectural and spatial organization of modern tourism facilities in the context of the historical development of Solvychegodsk are determined. Based on the example of designing a tourist complex on the territory of the former Solvychegodsky mechanical repair plant on the banks of the Vychegda River, the proposed recommendations were tested.
