Peer and self assessments improve fairness and transparency in group work evaluation, enhancing learning outcomes.
An activity for self- and peer assessment in group work. To manage group work and ensure fair assessment, self- and peer assessments are used as a complement to the teacher’s grading. Students evaluate both their own and their group members’ contributions based on five grading criteria. This aims to make individual contributions visible, counteract so-called “free-riding,” and create a fairer assessment. The method also supports learning by encouraging students to reflect on their work, develop critical thinking, and gain a better understanding of quality criteria.
