Case report illustrates the challenges of managing unilateral pulmonary vein atresia, suggesting timely intervention is essential.
Unilateral pulmonary atresia is a rare vascular anomaly, often presenting with recurrent respiratory infections. Here, we report a case of a 3-year-old with complex cardiac abnormalities, diagnosed with congenital absence of a unilateral pulmonary vein. Timely intervention is crucial for prognosis. Differential diagnosis includes acquired causes of pulmonary venous obstruction. While successful surgical repair is possible in some cases, pneumonectomy may be considered for poor vascular confluence. Careful evaluation and consideration of long-term complications are essential in management decisions.
