Treatment of 3,4,4,5‐tetrachloro‐4 H ‐1,2,6‐thiadiazine ( 1 ) with formic acid affords the title compound 2 in high yield. Replacement reactions of 2 with various N ‐, O ‐and S ‐nucleophiles are described. The structure of the thiadiazine ring in the compounds prepared is discussed.
